Standing Committees play a crucial role in guiding our institution's strategic direction and decision-making process. 

These committees are composed of dedicated members from our faculty and staff, all working collaboratively to enhance the educational experience and promote GRCC's mission. Each committee addresses specific areas of focus, ensuring that diverse perspectives contribute to the ongoing improvement and growth of GRCC.

Academic Governing Council (AGC)AGC Executive CommitteeGrand Rapids Community College's Academic Governing Council (AGC) is a collaborative initiative between faculty and academic administration to strengthen communication and increase involvement in academic issues and policies. By fostering and encouraging a broader input and a sense of accountability, AGC leadership effectively mediates issues that impact students, staff and faculty.
Academic Pathways Advisory TeamJennifer Batten and Brandon Berg The Academic Pathways Advisory Team’s role is to maintain the accomplishments of the Academic Pathways Steering Team and to seek opportunities to embed the Academic Pathways philosophy into processes and practices at GRCC for the betterment of the student experience and academic achievement.
Administrative Policy CommitteeBrett MeyerThe College seeks to ensure that all official College administrative policies are formally approved, printed in a consistent format, and maintained in the shared drive and the website. In order to assure compliance with policy objectives and establish accountability, policies must be kept current, and employees must be notified of new and revised policies in a timely manner. This document defines what a College policy is, explains the standard policy format, and outlines the steps for developing, amending, approving, and issuing administrative policies.

AGC - General Education Review TeamMatthew NovakoskiAs charged by GRCC’s Academic Governing Council (AGC), the General Education Review Team is responsible for determining the outcomes for each of the distribution categories, defining the criteria that will be used in making decisions about inclusion of courses in the general education distribution areas, and reviewing courses according to that criteria.

AI Task ForceKristi Haik and Brandon KainesThis group will identify systems regarding AI that benefit the College the most, assess risks and make recommendations. Part of this work will include determine what additional expertise is needed to meet the goals.
Bookstore Liaison TeamPaul Gleason-Zeeff and Vicki JanowiakThe BLT provides an administrative connection between the institution and the for-profit Bookstore servicing the College, with the intention of representing the College’s interests in this relationship. This team provides oversight to Bookstore-related processes that impact students, faculty and the broader College mission. Most specifically, this team provides leadership in assessing, developing and facilitating the textbook adoption and ordering process such that, to the greatest extent possible, textbooks are available for students before the semester begins, and in a manner consistent with the guidelines of relevant federal regulations (i.e., HEOA). 

 
Clery Compliance TeamRobin Graves and Rebecca WhitmanThe team’s purpose is to identify the appropriate College departments having a responsibility for some area relating to the Clery Act, and to have a collaborative approach in ensuring Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) is in compliance with the federal requirements of the Clery Act. With a plethora of compliance responsibilities affecting GRCC, and housed in several departments on campus, the team will assist in updating processes, policies, and procedures relating to the Clery Act. 
Data Governance CouncilAmanda KruzonaThe Data Governance Council provides standards and guidance for effective institutional data management, as defined in the Data Governance Policy.
Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) Council The purpose of the Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) Council is to create, implement and assess Academic and Student Affairs procedures and plans, as well as approve new programs. 

 
Default Management TeamAnn Isackson
 
To develop and implement a student loan default management plan and monitor its success in reducing the college’s Cohort Default Rate (CDR).
Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program Oversight Team (DAAPPP) The team monitors, evaluates, and makes recommendations for improvement for the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program (DAAPP) that is developed and implemented for students, faculty and staff. The team also oversees the required communication that is sent to students, faculty and staff. The team will conduct a Biennial Review.
Emergency Planning and Preparedness TeamVicki Janowiak and Rebecca WhitmanThe Planning and Preparedness Team is comprised of appointed Executive and Administrative employees, responsible for establishing Emergency Response Framework and Communication Plan measures of success. These measures will provide the foundation for an annual review and evaluation to identify process improvements to ensure the plans remain current and functional.
Employee Behavioral Intervention Team (EBIT)Executive Director of Human ResourcesThe team is designed to provide preventative measures on campus to reduce the risk of employee incidents. Members will intake and assess information, take action when necessary and track details about behavior concerns noted on campus.
Employee Enrichment and Engagement TeamHuman ResourcesThis team is charged with developing employee-centered events and activities to build a sense of belonging, engagement, and appreciation amongst the GRCC employee community.
Employee Wellness TeamHuman ResourcesThrough educational opportunities and wellness activities, the purpose of the Employee Wellness Team is to enhance the professional and personal well-being of our employees to maintain a healthy, productive, and balanced lifestyle.
Ethics TeamBrett MeyerThe Ethics Team is responsible for imparting expectations for ethical behavior to employees, students and suppliers, receiving ethics complaints, analyzing trend data and for recommending training.
Faculty Evaluation System Team (FEST)Jennifer Batten and Sheila JonesThe purpose of the Faculty Evaluation System Team (FEST) is to provide collaborative support for the maintenance and improvement of the Faculty Evaluation System. 
Health and Safety TeamNat Lloyd and Whitney Marsh The Health & Safety Team is responsible for assessing and monitoring the safety, security and health of GRCC’s campus environments on behalf of its stakeholders in order to reduce the college’s exposure to financial and/or legal liability.
Institutional Assessment TeamMichael Miller and Jennifer BattenThe Institutional Assessment Team is the primary body to establish assessment goals, data collection, practices and training concerning assessment at GRCC.
Institutional Review Board (IRB)Sophie Rubin and Amanda Kruzona To monitor the research conducted at the College, to ensure that College students and personnel are treated with the respect and care outlined by the American Psychological Association guidelines for research with human subjects, and to maintain the integrity of the institution, proposals for all research projects conducted on the GRCC campus involving its students, faculty or staff must be submitted to and approved by the GRCC Institutional Review Board for Research at GRCC. 

 
Open Practices in Education Network (OPEN)Lauren WoolseyThis cross-functional team, Open Practices in Education Network (OPEN) is designed to bring voices from across campus with varied perspectives together to build long-lasting infrastructure that supports the development of, education around, and use of Open Educational Resources (OER) and Open Educational Practices (OEP). 
 
Prerequisite and Placement Team (PaPT)Jennifer Batten and Lakisha BeckTo ensure that prerequisite courses and placement testing requirements effectively support student success. The team works collaboratively with stakeholders to make well-considered, data-informed decisions that align with college policies. Team members develop and seek policy approval, and coordinate systems such as PeopleSoft, the Academic Catalog, and the college website to facilitate implementation and clear communication.
Risk Management Oversight TeamLisa Freiburger and Sheila JonesRisk Management team provides risk management oversight for the institution.
Strategic Leadership Team (SLT)Jennifer Batten The purpose of the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) is designed to provide a forum that will enable a wide variety of college constituency groups the opportunity to provide input into the present and future direction of the College. This team will guide the development and on-going implementation of our strategic plan, review benchmarking data, study budget realities and offer recommendations to the President.

Student Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT)Melissa WareThe team is designed to provide mitigating measures on campus to reduce the risk of student incidents related to threats to self or others. Members will intake and assess information, require additional assessment of risk activity as deemed necessary or appropriate, deliberate and determine case closure options, refer to other resources that may help promote safety and student success.
Student Feedback Management TeamValerie ButterfieldThe purpose of the team is to continuously monitor and improve the GRCC student and stakeholder experience. The team is responsible for defining “complaints” on our campus, providing clear information for employees regarding receiving those complaints, responding in a timely manner and analyzing complaints to ensure improved practice.
Supplier Inclusion TeamPaula Gleason-Zeeff To establish and implement proactive policies and programs to ensure institutional commerce with all business classifications, with measurable benchmarks reflective of our community, that are monitored and strongly encouraged.
Support Staff Professional Development (SSPD)Lisa DopkeThe purpose of the Support Staff Professional Development (SSPD) Program is to encourage support staff to improve their professional skills related to their GRCC assignments.
TLDE Professional Development Faculty Advisory CouncilAmy LynConsulting on and contributing to Professional Development events, which may include: Learning Day, STLI, Faculty Showcase.
