The Instructional Support and Institutional Planning (ISIP) division is a dynamic area that supports and guides the development of cross-college initiatives and processes that seek to indirectly and directly benefit students.
ISIP encompasses Academic Support & Tutoring Services, Curriculum Support, Experiential Learning, Library & Learning Commons, Registrar’s Office/Student Records (includes Veterans Services), Teaching, Learning, & Distance Education, and Testing Services. In addition, ISIP supports College-level strategic planning and accreditation as well as academic department planning. The end goal of all the ISIP areas is to support students as they work to attain their academic credentials and meet their unique goals.

Academic Support & Tutoring Services
- Staffed by professional and peer tutors, offering in-person and virtual support in various academic disciplines, either through drop-in service or by appointment, to accommodate students’ schedules and needs.
- Provides one-on-one or small-group support outside the traditional classroom setting to enhance comprehension, improve academic performance, and build confidence.
- Supports access to technology through the computer lab spaces.

Curriculum Support
- Manages curriculum development and revision, academic and co-curricular program review, and the assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Publishes and maintains the College Catalog, which informs the programmatic information on the College’s website.
- Develops and manages Curriculog processes.
- Supports course and program transferability to our 4-year partners.
- Develops and maintains articulation agreements with high schools and transfer partners.

Experiential Learning
- Develops and supports activities, events, and coursework for the Honors Program.
- Works with faculty to develop service-learning partnerships and activities.
- Supports faculty in planning and implementation of study away trips.
- Manages processes and procedures related to the College Sponsored Student Travel policy.
- Collaborates with the University of Michigan on the Transfer Bridges Program.

- Maintains and expands access to a broad range of both online and hard copy academic and educational materials.
- Designates liaison librarians to academic departments to provide faculty training, resources, and classroom support.
- Provides students access to study spaces, technology, and academic resources.

- Maintains all types of student records including transcripts and transfer credit, graduation applications and awards, and program declarations.
- Supports access to resources for military connected students through the Veteran Success Center.
- Leads efforts to keep a number of academic policies current through the Academic Governing Council.

Teaching, Learning, & Distance Education
- Designs and facilitates professional learning experiences that promote innovative and inclusive teaching and learning practices, utilizing a range of formats and modalities.
- Develops and leads faculty programming and recognition events including adjunct faculty dinners, the Faculty Showcase, Learning Day, Teaching and Learning Institutes, and the New Faculty Institute.
- Supports distance learning course development through instructional design and peer review services as well as facilitating Canvas training and the College's Online/Hybrid Certification Course (OHCC).

- Manages proctored testing for GRCC students including make-up testing, HESI A2 exam for prospective nursing students, and Challenge exams.
- Supports testing for Disability Support Services accommodations.
- Offers proctoring services for students from other colleges, CLEP testing, and professional certification exams for the community at large.
- Leads the efforts around Credit for Prior Learning and Prior Learning Assessment.
