GRCC is governed by the board of trustees, which consists of seven members elected at large in biennial elections. The president of the college serves as an ex officio member of the board. The trustees serve without compensation for overlapping terms of six years. Trustees operate under the policy governance model. The board meets once a month in a public session.

Notice of Closed and Special Board Meetings
The Grand Rapids Community College Board of Trustees will meet in a closed session on Friday, December 19, 2025 beginning at 8:00 a.m., to consider material exempt from discussion or disclosure by state or federal statute – a written legal opinion - under the Open Meetings Act Section 8(1)(h).
At 8:30 a.m. the Board will convene in a special meeting which is open to the public under the Open Meetings Act, 267 and will be held in the Boardroom on the 5th floor of Raleigh J. Finkelstein Hall.
