Rad Tech Mission, Goals and Student Outcomes
The mission of the Grand Rapids Community College Radiologic Technology Program is to demonstrate radiographic skills, critical thinking skills, communication skills, apply radiation safety, patient care, professional attitudes, and lifelong learning characteristics that will prepare students for entry into the workforce of diagnostic medical imaging as a registry eligible radiographer.
Upon completion of the Radiologic Technology Program at Grand Rapids Community College:
Goal #1: Student will demonstrate critical thinking abilities when solving clinical problems.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Student adapts correctly to mobile/trauma radiographic exams
- Student modifies exam for non-routine patient (wheelchairs, stretcher trauma, etc.)
Goal #2: Student will demonstrate appropriate communication skills.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Student will be able to demonstrate effective oral communication skills
- Student will be able to demonstrate effective written communication skills
Goal #3: Student/graduates will be clinically competent.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Student will apply radiation safety according to ALARA principles
- Student graduates will demonstrate positioning skills
- Student graduates will select appropriate technical factors
Goal #4: Student will demonstrate professional growth and development.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Student will exhibit professional attributes in the professional setting
- Student will determine the importance of continued professional development
