Occupational Support specifically serves students in credit based career and technical programs that lead to high skill, high demand, and high wage jobs in Michigan.

We can help departments who house these programs in the following ways:

    • We can provide an added level of advising or career readiness support for advising days, open houses
    • Partner with you on building intentional employer relationships to benefit students
    • We can attend events related to career and technical education
    • Help consider ways to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion in your programs
    • Serve on your advisory board

How is Occupational Support different than other advising resources

  • Spend more time discussing the entire program up front
  • Discuss Career + Labor Market Information to students who are considering fields
  • Offer financial solutions for cost of living and courses
  • Refers students to all on-campus and off-campus resources to make life easier to attend college
  • Discuss budgets, resetting expectations with family members, time and stress management
  • Connect education back to the career goals to increase motivation

How to refer to Occupational Support

  • In Navigate: Raise an alert for Occupational Support Program.  Our office staff will reach out to the student within 24-48 hours to discuss our program, invite them to have an intake appointment.
  • Encourage student to complete the OSP Intake Form on the front page of the OSP website
