After graduating college, she then became a GRCC Student Success Coach in 2016, and became the first admissions recruiter for our Lakeshore Campus in 2019.  Suzy is also bilingual in English and Spanish and works closely with our Spanish-speaking community. Suzy’s current role as an academic advisor has her connecting with students across Ottawa, Allegan and Kent County. She guides students with class recommendations to assure students are on the right path to achieving their educational goal. Maria Vilardo

About Me ​​​​​​Maria is a native of Niagara Falls, New York, and received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the State University of New York at Fredonia ('08), and her Master of Science in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration from Buffalo State College ('13). She's had the opportunity to work in a variety of different roles and areas of academic and student services, and has been an Academic Advisor since 2015. Before settling down in Grand Rapids and joining GRCC in 2018, she's worked at various types of colleges and universities in 3 other states and Canada. Maria feels that her diverse experience allows her to connect with students and assist them along their educational journey towards reaching their goals. In her free time she loves traveling, watching sports, reading, and spending time with her husband, step-daughter and dog.
