Upon enrollment, you are required to take one to three placement tests.
Placement tests are not pass or fail; the results are used to ensure you are enrolled in courses that match your skill level and subject knowledge. These assessments can also determine if you are eligible to bypass courses not required for your degree or pathway.
We provide three placement tests: Accuplacer, ALEKS PPL, and Levels of English Proficiency (LOEP), to determine your strengths and weaknesses in subjects including:

Walk-in testing is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. A photo ID is required at the time of testing; there are no exceptions to this policy.
Acceptable forms of photo identification
- Current driver's license.
- State approved ID.
- College ID.
- Current passport.
- Tribal ID card.
- Naturalization card or certificate of citizenship.

Children are not allowed in the testing area, nor can they be left unattended while you take the test. Please make arrangements prior to your test date. You may also take your test(s) on our Main Campus in Grand Rapids.
