Programs

GRCC is proud to provide a wide range of programs to meet the needs of students and the community including:

  • Associate degree and certificate programs, career programs and transfer programs
  • Workforce training, job training, apprenticeship, customized business and corporate training and ESL classes

Highlights

GRCC received reaffirmation of accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission in June 2024. Maintaining accreditation is important and hard work. The effort put forth by GRCC's faculty and staff should be celebrated!

GRCC was the only college in the country to receive a second Strengthening Community Colleges Training grant from the Department of Labor which focuses on IT career pathways.

GRCC received the NSF ExLENT grant focused on experiential learning for emerging and novel technologies in IT and Manufacturing.

GRCC's Medical Apprenticeship program, Learning While Earning in Healthcare, was a finalist for the Bellweather Award, a national recognition focused on cutting-edge trendsetting programs worthy of replication.

GRCC offered new academic programs based on growing industries and student transfer intentions. Notable new programs include:

  • Artificial Intelligence

  • Integration Automation

Notable new transfer programs include:

  • Pre-Exercise Science A.A. (GVSU)
  • Child Development A.A.A.S. (WMU-Early Childhood General, Special Education)
  • General Transfer programs in Neuroscience, Psychology-Behavioral Science, and Global & International Studies

Learning First at GRCC

  • GRCC offers the first two years of a university-level education with a community college philosophy.
  • Over 95% of GRCC faculty hold a Master’s Degree or Ph.D., and are committed to excellence in teaching. They also bring scholarly and real-world experience to the classroom in order to best prepare students for further education and for careers.
  • Learning opportunities are offered in flexible formats including in-person, hybrid, online and virtual courses.
  • GRCC is committed to the individual student’s experience and provides a wide range of student support services such as tutoring, academic advising, and counseling services all free of charge.
  • Classes are offered at the campuses in downtown Grand Rapids, on the Lakeshore in Holland, and online.
  • GRCC has six middle college partners and seven concurrent enrollment locations.
  • In an effort to provide seamless educational pathways for students, GRCC maintains partnerships with regional high schools and technical centers, articulated program agreements with four-year partners, and reverse transfer agreements with local universities.
  • As an open access institution, GRCC provides learning opportunities to students at all levels of preparation, from classes and support that help students become college-ready to our Honors Program for high achieving students to challenge them for even greater success.
  • Grand Rapids Community College currently offers twelve Academic Pathways, with a variety of programs within each Academic Pathway. The twelve GRCC Academic Pathways are:

  • GRCC has been continuously accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 1917. In addition, several GRCC programs hold specialized program level accreditations.
