After June 29, 2021 and implementing phase 5.1
As of June 29, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and MIOSHA has lifted COVID-19-related restrictions. As a result, GRCC is moving into Phase 5.1 of our Re-Opening and COVID-19 Response Plan.
What does this mean for GRCC's community?
As of Tuesday, June 29:
- The GRCC mask policy for all individuals is eliminated.
- Masks are not required to wear on campus.
- Daily health screenings are not required for employees, students, visitors or guests to campus.
- Plexiglass barriers will remain in place as a precautionary safety measure.
- Facilities will begin to remove existing COVID signs over the weekend. We are developing new signs and messaging focusing on keeping the GRCC community healthy and well and encouraging the behaviors that we now know help reduce the spread of the virus – frequent hand washing, staying home when ill or not feeling well, distancing as feasible, wearing a mask if preferred, getting a vaccine to protect yourself and others!
- Many people may still be more comfortable with social distancing or continued mask wearing and they should continue to do so.

COVID-19 Reporting
GRCC is reporting confirmed cases within the active employee and registered student populations for individuals who have physically been on any GRCC property within the past 14 days.
These numbers will differ from numbers reported by the Kent County Health Department due to reporting time frames and because they report ALL students, including those who have not been on the GRCC campus. They define an "outbreak" as two cases within a week.
