Program information

Academic Program Code: 954

Students desiring to complete an approved U.S. Department of Labor Office Apprenticeship program, will need to successfully complete 30 credit hours in the technology area (AR, DR, EG, EL, ER, HVA, MN, TE, TM, TR) or a related area. Students are eligible to receive an apprenticeship certificate from Grand Rapids Community College. Contact the Manufacturing Apprenticeship Office at (616) 234-3670 for more information.

Note: U.S. Department of Labor Office Apprenticeships require a student to have a minimum of 8,000 hours of on-the-job training in addition to the education to be eligible to receive their journey-person’s certificate.

Potential apprentices: The Manufacturing Apprenticeship Program offers you the combined benefits of on-the-job training plus instruction. You'll gain both practical experience and exposure to the theoretical aspects of skilled occupations.

Manufacturing companies: Each company creates its own listing of apprenticeship courses; please contact the office for specifics on how to create an apprenticeship program for your organization:
