David Schultz serves as the instructor for Applied Study of trumpet and horn at GRCC. He holds degrees in Trumpet Performance from Western Michigan University and The Hartt School, with instruction from Dr. Stephen Jones, Scott Thornburg, Greg Whitaker, and Kevin Cobb.

He holds the position of Principal Trumpet for the Grand Rapids Symphonic Band since the 2014-2015 season, and is a founding member of the local brass quintet, Beer City Brass. David also performs regularly with the Vintage Parlor Orchestra.

As a featured soloist, David has performed with the Grand Rapids Symphonic Band and a Big Rapids-area brass ensemble, Con Brio Voce. In December 2012, he was approached to perform for an interfaith prayer service held at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford, CT following a mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. As a featured soloist for this service, David performed the trumpet solo in Charles Ives' The Unanswered Question. 

He has also performed in pit orchestras for numerous musical productions at the Kalamazoo Civic Theater, Barn Theater, Grand Rapids Circle Theater, and Shadblow Theater.

David continues to be active as a performer, composer, and music educator throughout the West Michigan area.
