Roel A. Garcia is an adjunct English instructor who began teaching at Grand Rapids Community College in fall 2009. He teaches English Composition 1 and English Composition 2. He lives in Holland but is a native of South Texas, where he grew up in a small ranch. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where he earned his M.A. in English. He is a published writer who most recently had his short essay, “My Father, the Stranger in the Room” published in 2015 in the inaugural edition of The 3288 Review from the Grand Rapids-based Caffeinated Press. His writing mainly focuses on his roots in South Texas, but he enjoys writing a good horror tale any day.
