Katie (Katherine) Hughes started college as a first-generation college student, first at NMC ( a community college) for a semester, before transferring to Western Michigan University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Psychology & Social Work from WMU and then completed her Master's Degree in Counseling in Higher Education. She has worked for Community Mental Health of MI, WMU, KVCC and GRCC during her career. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan.
Katie’s higher education roles have included teaching at WMU & GRCC, working with International Admissions & Programming, advising in several TRIO programs, Career Services, Disability Support & Occupational Support Services, Counseling and Academic Advising & Transfer. She in addition to advising all GRCC students, also advises the following student groups: Honors Students, Study Away participants and International Students. She is the Faculty Advisor for the International Student Organization, through Student Life. She also works with ESL and U of M Transfer Bridges students.
Katie participated in Study Abroad while in college and enjoys travel and keeping up with friends around the world. In her free time, she likes to garden, enjoy nature and create memories/ fun time with her spouse, three children, two dogs & two cats.

Yearlong Enrollment
GRCC allows students to plan ahead by offering yearlong enrollment to be able to plan your next year's worth of classes out at a time. Please take advantage of enrolling early for classes and not waiting until the semester is about to start. Students can always make changes if your schedule or life changes!
