Karsten Wimbush

An enthusiastic educator and saxophonist, Karsten Wimbush has been teaching and performing in West Michigan for over a decade. A Grand Rapids native, he has taught all ages in and out of the classroom. Karsten received his Bachelor of Music Education with Performance Honors and Master of Education (Curriculum & Instruction) from Grand Valley State University. While at GVSU, he was awarded the Arthur C. Hills scholarship, was named winner of the GVSU Concerto Competition, helped commission contemporary chamber music works by eight composers and provided chamber music clinics to over 4,000 K-12 students throughout Michigan.

In addition to teaching saxophone lessons to music majors and minors at GRCC, Karsten also serves as Director of Bands at Black River Public School in Holland, MI and holds a K-12 music education certification. His students are actively involved in community performances, MSBOA festivals, and regional jazz festivals every year.
