Alyssa Gamez serves as the Associate Director of the Woodrick Center for Inclusion and Multicultural Affairs, and is responsible for leading the Rise Up & Achieve student retention program with the support and wisdom of the entire Woodrick Center team. Additionally, Alyssa manages the department’s data and assessment processes ensuring to highlight the transformational work of the Woodrick Center’s initiatives on the GRCC student population.
Alyssa has worked in higher education for 10 years in multiple capacities, and deeply believes in the power of higher education transforming the lives of all people. Since moving to Grand Rapids in 2019, Alyssa has worked in community outreach at the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids and as a project manager at West Michigan Works.
Prior to beginning her career in higher education, Alyssa graduated from Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. She received both of her Masters degrees from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois.
Alyssa is originally from a small town in southern Michigan and enjoys spending time with her family, enjoying nature, doing puzzles, dancing, painting and listening to music.
