The 2017-18 Raiders racked up more than 30 individual awards for academic and athletic achievements. Topping off that list is recognition as an American Volleyball Coaches Association Academic Team.
The award, started during the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative GPA on a 5.0 scale.
This past year, GRCC’s volleyball team maintained a 3.45 cumulative GPA, landing a spot on the AVCA academic team list. Raiders volleyball was one of just 26 two-year colleges across all divisions to be named to the academic team.
In 2017-18, GRCC’s volleyball team had 10 members named to the MCCAA All-Conference Academic Team and eight that were honored as academic All-MCCAA. Additionally, the team had seven players named NJCAA Academic All-American, for earning a cumulative GPA of 3.60 or higher for the academic year.
