Our mission in Disability Support Services (DSS) is to ensure students with disabilities have equal access to all curricular and co-curricular opportunities at GRCC. Through an interactive discussion with students, counselors/advisors facilitate access either through helping to remove campus barriers or coordinate reasonable accommodation. Student employees contribute to our mission and goals by working closely with the Support Professionals in our main office and testing center. We also appreciate your academic pursuits: if there is down time (all tasks temporarily completed) during your shift, you are allowed to use this available time to study and complete homework.
Major Responsibilities:
● Work closely with DSS staff, counselors, and faculty to understand the nature of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the importance of timely accommodations
● Adhere to GRCC’s testing standards and confidentiality while meeting ADA accommodation requirements
● Create a friendly, supportive, and welcoming environment for students and staff
● Manage resolution of routine student service issues using sound judgment
● Provide forward-facing customer service in the DSS Testing and DSS Main Office including answer calls, transfer calls, place appointment reminder confirmation calls, return calls, take messages, and organize and clean the waiting areas and testing rooms
● Assist with scheduling appointments and exams, maintain confidential documents for students, and successfully use various office databases and file management systems manage
● Support accommodations for students through assistive technologies, test reading, scribing, print enlargement, and other classroom or lab tasks
● Perform other duties related to the DSS department as assigned

● Must be a current GRCC student
● Must be highly trainable and willing to learn new skills
● Must be available to work flexible hours, which may include evenings
● Must be punctual with consistent attendance and task completion
● Ability to provide student-centered customer service in a multi-tasking work environment
● Excellent organizational, detail-oriented, and problem-solving skills to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.
● Willingness to work with diverse and inclusive populations of students, faculty, and staff
● Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
● Proficient computer skills in Google Suite (Gmail, Hangouts, Drive)
