• Communicate weekly with ALAS participants, either in person, email, or via phone, and respond to communication in a timely fashion
• Maintain social media accounts to communicate information, successes, resources, etc
• Provide support through building rapport and maintaining a peer mentor relationship with ALAS participants
• Facilitate community building opportunities for ALAS participants at least twice per month
• Provide appropriate referrals to campus resources, activities, student organizations, and programs
• Refer students to appropriate campus and/or community resources
• Maintain documentation of interactions with ALAS participants
• Assist with data collection and file maintenance
• Maintain confidentiality
• Serve as an ambassador for the ALAS program and GRCC
• Assist in recruitment and program sustainability
• Other duties as assigned
• Must have at least a 2.7 cumulative grade point average and must maintain at least a 2.7 cumulative grade point average during employment as an ALAS peer mentor.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work ethic and display high level of professionalism and enthusiasm in the position.
• Demonstrate the ability to serve as a role-model and mentor for new students by modeling integrity and inclusivity.
• Possess organizational skills
• Possess a commitment to working with diverse groups of people, identities, and experiences.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to navigate technology (social media, Word, Excel, PPT, email, etc)
• An understanding of the Latino culture
• Appreciation for diversity, inclusion, and equity
