Dr. Sheila Jones is GRCC’s Interim Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, facilitating efforts to build an innovative curriculum, effective teaching and learning practices leading to student success, and institutional accountability.

Jones has spent more than a decade in community college education and remains committed to creating opportunities and removing barriers for students to achieve their educational goals.

The Academic and Student Affairs division includes the areas of Athletics, Instructional Support and Institutional Planning, Lakeshore Campus, Promise Zone, School of Business and Industry, School of Health Sciences, School of Liberal Arts, School of STEM, Strategic Outreach, Student Success, and Workforce Training, Job Training, and Customized Training.

Prior to moving to Michigan, Jones served as a tenured faculty member and the founding District Director of The Robert "Bob" Elmore Honors College of Broward College in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., a program which had previously been an Honors Institute.  She also served as president of the Florida Collegiate Honors Council.

Jones completed the Michigan Community College Association's Leadership Academy in 2019 and currently serves as GRCC's Accreditation Liaison Officer, a member of the board of directors of the Michigan American Council on Education Women's Network, and an adjunct faculty member in the Doctorate in Community College Leadership program at Ferris State University.

Jones earned her doctoral and master’s degrees in history from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
