Energy Program Savings

Grand Rapids Community College has saved more than $9.5 million through its energy conservation efforts over the last nine years. GRCC launched its energy program in May of 2008. Since then, energy consumption has been reduced by 470,650 MMBTUs. That reduction translates into the equivalent of 449,980 tons of carbon dioxide removed from the atmosphere, or 10,413 passenger cars removed from the road, or 1,281,541 trees planted.

The college has reduced energy consumption by 22.1% which translates to $9,553,845 dollars in savings.
