Change of Academic Program (Major) Form

If your declared academic program (major) is inaccurate or you have made the decision to follow a different academic program, this is the form for you! If you are unsure of your declared academic program (major), log in to the Online Student Center or My Degree Path to determine if a change is needed. To find out if a change of academic program (major) will be appropriate, please speak with an advisor or counselor or use the What-If function in MyDegree Path.

Fill out the form below completely, taking into consideration the following important information:

  • This form does not serve as a correction to a graduation application submission. Instead, please email graduation@grcc.edu with academic program/catalog year corrections.
  • Students cannot select an academic program or degree that has already been or will be awarded from GRCC.
  • If a student selects his/her current declared academic program (major), this submission will be considered a change of catalog year.
  • If a student selects a new academic program (major), the catalog year could be impacted, per the Catalog Year Policy. For more information, please visit the Catalog Year Information Web page.
  • Students with financial aid should contact the Financial Aid Office at (616) 234-4030 prior to changing their academic program (major) to determine if there will be any impact on current or future financial aid.
  • Any student changing to or from a secondary admissions program, such as health or law enforcement, must contact the department.
  • If the program desired is not available in the academic program (major) options, contact the appropriate department for more information.
  • Students who are currently listed as non-degree seeking may be contacted for additional information.

Be Advised: By selecting this option, your declared academic program (major) will remain the same and you will be expected to satisfy all requirements for the 2015-16 catalog year. If your declared academic program (major) is not available in this catalog year, your submission cannot be processed.

Be Advised: By selecting this option, your declared academic program (major) will remain the same and you will be expected to satisfy all requirements for the 2016-17 catalog year, which does not take effect until 8/29/2016. By selecting a program from this catalog year, the earliest semester for which you can apply for graduation is Fall 2016. If your declared academic program (major) is not available in this catalog year, your submission cannot be processed.

Non-Degree Seeking - Student plans to take classes with no intention to pursue a certificate, degree or credit transfer. Non-Degree seeking students are not eligible for financial aid.

Degree Seeking - Student plans to take classes to complete a certificate, degree, and/or transfer credits to another college or university.

If you choose an academic program that you have already completed at GRCC, this submission cannot be processed. For more information about the academic programs currently offered at GRCC, please see the GRCC Course Catalog.

Be Advised: If you have received or will be graduating with an Associate of Arts degree from GRCC, an academic program from this list will not be a valid selection and this submission will not be processed.

Be Advised: If you have received or will be graduating with an associate degree from GRCC, the Associate of General Studies is not a valid selection and this submission will not be processed.

Be Advised: If you have received or will be graduating with an Associate of Science degree from GRCC, an academic program from this list will not be a valid selection and this submission will not be processed.

Be Advised: You will be expected to satisfy all requirements for the 2016-17 catalog year, which does not take affect until 8/29/2016. By selecting an academic program from this list, the earliest semester for which you can apply to graduate is Fall 2016.

Be Advised: If you have received a degree in Plastics-Polymer Engineering Technology (797 or 798) from GRCC, this is not a valid selection and your submission will not be processed.

This option is not intended to update a student's catalog year. Instead, it is to help students gain proper advising by keeping his/her academic focus updated.

Be Advised: If you do not have the Associate of Arts academic program (007) declared, selecting from the below list will be considered a change of academic program (major) and your graduation requirements may be impacted.

Be Advised: If you do not have the Associate of Science academic program (011) declared, selecting from the below list will be considered a change of academic program (major) and your graduation requirements may be impacted.
