Group Exercise Summer 2015

How it works

  • There are no fees (really!) 
  • Attend any class
  • Student Employees are able and encouraged to attend (if it does not interfere with their work schedules).  These classes are not for credit - they are for personal health and wellness. 
  • Due to limited class size, student employees are welcome to participate with priority given to GRCC Employees in the event of a full class.
  • You are welcome to bring your spouse, child over 18 or friend(s) to these classes. 

No need to sign up - just join us!  It's a lot of fun!

What to wear

  • You don’t need to have an "outfit" -  just bring some shorts or cozy pants and a t-shirt along with comfortable gym shoes and you will be ready to go!

Class Descriptions

Yoga mats are available in Staff Development for anyone to borrow (and return of course). Please note the times of classes AND locations may be a little different than during the school year.   Please make checks out to GRCC.  Any questions please call Julie Otte x3490 or jotte@grcc.edu

Yoga with Julie & Simon

This class provides the student with a Yoga mat challenge that will focus on strengthening and conditioning the core muscles and getting sufficiently warmed up and centered. Students will also experience a flowing yoga series which will encourage gentle yet deep stretching and control.  All levels welcome.  Bring a yoga mat please.

Tae Kwon Do

The class will focus on the basics of kicking, punching, blocking and forms.  All levels are welcome as the instructor will work with you to succeed.  Tae Kwon Do helps with balance, coordination, confidence, concentration, and a great workout.  You only need yourself and comfortable clothing.  All levels welcome.

Spinning

Get a great workout on the bike! This low impact class provides upbeat music, intensity and fun to motivate riders to cross the finish line. Instructors demonstrate proper bike setup and adjustments for a safe ride. Open to all levels.  You must bring water and a towel to this class.

Bootcamp

Bootcamp is a high intensity quick workout.  Cardio, strength and endurance all happen in this 30 minute class.  Come and enjoy a great workout that is intense and fun!

Butts & Guts

Train and tighten all regions of the lower body and core with this toning class.  Workout will focus on the abs, glutes, legs, and lower back using light weights and body resistance.

Urban Eco Trek

Using the city of Grand Rapids as a playground, Cheryl will take participants through a fun urban workout utilizing stairs, green spaces, trees and body weight!  Join us - all fitness levels welcome!

Walking Club

Walking club is a easy way to get some exercise, get away from your work and see our beautiful city!  We will be leaving from the Ford Fieldhouse and walking  at a comfortable pace and will be back by 1:00.  Bring your walking shoes and some water if you'd like and get ready to have some fun! 

Kickboxing

An action-packed workout that combines a series of punching and kicking combinations, this class improves strength, muscle tone and endurance. It's an intense workout for the participant who wants a challenge and to have some fun!
