Your Path, Grand Rapids' Promise

Empowering Grand Rapids students with access to higher education

The Promise Zone Scholarship is a place-based scholarship that provides qualifying high school students with access to attend Grand Rapids Community College for free, and pursue the academic, job-training or certificate program of their choice!

Do I qualify for the Promise Zone Scholarship?

You're eligible to receive the scholarship if you:

1. Have lived within the City of Grand Rapids since the start of 11th grade.
2. Have attended one of the 25 high schools within city limits since the start of 11th grade.
3. Stay with it! Graduate from your high school.

What am I eligible for?

Eligible Promise Zone students receive the following:

• Up to 72 attempted credit hours at Grand Rapids Community College or an eligible Job Training program
• GRCC bookstore allocation to purchase textbooks and school supplies each semester
• Funds on your RaiderCard, if enrolled in the fall and/or winter semester(s), for on-campus expenses such as parking, food, and printing

For eligible students that graduated prior to the class of 2025, there may be a prorated scholarship amount based on the number of years you resided within the City of Grand Rapids and attended an eligible high school.
