Growing Education in Manufacturing (GEM)

A tuition-free degree AND a salary! In the Fall of 2012 several area manufacturing companies and Grand Rapids Community College joined forces to offer students a paid, job-related experience while they earn an Associate in Applied Arts and Sciences in Tooling and Manufacturing from GRCC.

GEM (Growing Education in Manufacturing) is a two-year technical development program with competitive wages. In addition to the in-class education they receive from GRCC, students also receive real world experience while being paid for their time! They work a minimum of 20 hours a week and will switch work areas each semester which allows them to have a better grasp of the company as a whole. This process offers students a greater chance to discover exactly which area they will want to focus on once they have earned their degree.

**The GEM program has reached capacity for the 2013-2014 school year**
