Learn more about:

Collection Development

We welcome recommendations from our campus community for books and journals to be added to the library collection. Send a message to your liaison librarian, call the Reference Desk at (616) 234-3868, or send an email with your recommendation. If you provide your contact information, we will notify you when the book arrives.

If you have any questions on about our policies on collection development, see our Library Collection Development Policy.

Connect Newsletter

Our twice-yearly CONNECT Faculty Newsletter features current news, information on upcoming events, workshops, new books and more.

Copyright

Learn the ins and outs of copyright information and procedures, from complying with laws to acquiring permissions.

Embed a Librarian Within Your Blackboard Course

Librarians will provide information literacy instruction in your Blackboard course with at least two weeks' notice. To request a librarian to work in your course, fill out an Information Literacy Request Form. Liaison librarians can also assist with adding links to copyrighted materials to Blackboard courses.

Liaison Librarians

One of the most important learning resources is a librarian designated to be a specialist for you and your department. Your department's librarian liaison handles library materials orders, copyright questions, Open Educational Resources (OER) materials selection, subject guide curation, library accreditation reports, faculty training and more. If you do not see your department listed, contact Nan Schichtel at (616) 234-3082.

Course Reserves

Contact Library Circulation Specialist Kevin Lyons at (616) 234-3189 or Circulation Associate Toni Harrington at (616) 234-3555 to reserve library resources or personal materials for your students.  See our Subject Guide.

Routing Periodicals

Request new magazine and journal issues to be sent via interoffice mail directly to your office.
