The Institute for Faculty Research on Teaching and Learning is an academic, cross-college, interdisciplinary program with the purpose of supporting faculty research relating to teaching and learning at Grand Rapids Community College.
The services provided by this program include:
- Support for research projects that add to the scholarship of teaching and learning.
- Support for the creation of a community of faculty that engage in conversation about what research – their own and others – has found about effective teaching practices.
- Opportunities for faculty to reflect on teaching practices and share conversations about practice.
- Communication to the larger GRCC community about best practices in teaching and learning
Research can be initiated by individual faculty or faculty can be invited to participate in college-wide research studies. As an extension of its research agenda, the Institute also provides an opportunity for faculty and staff to engage in personal reflective practice activities to better understand their role as teacher, leader, or a member of the greater GRCC community.
