Holland Degree Completion Program

Lakeshore Campus - Holland Degree Completion

A Partnership Between Grand Rapids Community College and Grand Valley State University

Grand Rapids Community College and Grand Valley State University are working together to help students graduate with an Associate Degree and/or Bachelors Degree. Working with an academic advisor from the start will ensure that you are able to get the most credit possible for any previously earned college course credit by taking advantage of transfer and consortium agreements between GRCC and GVSU.

GRCC will offer general education courses like: EN 101, EN 102, PS 110, PY 201, MA 104, and MA 107 at the GVSU Meijer campus. This expands another opportunity for students along the Lakeshore to complete MACRAO courses. The MACRAO (Michigan Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers) Transfer Agreement is designed to assist transfer from community colleges to baccalaureate colleges and universities.

The collaboration between GRCC and GVSU is designed to help nontraditional students complete their degree. The partnership is in response to the 2004 call by Lt. Gov. John Cherry’s Commission on Higher Education and Economic Growth for start colleges and universities to help adults with some post-secondary credits to complete degrees. The collaborations will help better meet the educational needs of the people along the Lakeshore.

GRCC and GVSU have an outstanding Concurrent Enrollment Agreement. The College has established a concurrent enrollment agreement with GVSU so that students of both institutions could make full use of the variety of courses offered by both institutions. Through this agreement, students have more scheduling options, more choice of course locations and many more courses available to them. Students may take courses at both institutions simultaneously, or alternate enrollment between them.
