ENERGY SAVING TOTALS
Grand Rapids Community College has saved more than $7.4 million through its energy conservation efforts over the last eight years. GRCC launched its energy program in May of 2008. Since then, energy consumption has been reduced by 349,617 MMBTUs. That reduction translates into the equivalent of 36,583 tons of carbon dioxide removed from the atmosphere, or 7,622 passenger cars removed from the road, or 938,036 trees planted.
The college has reduced energy consumption by 20.8% which translates to $7,470,567 dollars in savings.
