WHAT is the MACRAO Agreement?
The MACRAO agreement provides transferability of up to 30 semester credits to meet many of the General Education Requirements at participating Michigan four-year colleges and universities. Students (per the specifications listed below) may complete the requirements as part of the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degrees at GRCC or as a stand-alone package. Once the MACRAO requirements are met, the courses will transfer and be applied toward meeting the general education requirements at the four year college or university.
WHO is the MACRAO available for?
The MACRAO is available for students who started taking classes at GRCC PRIOR to fall 2014.
All current students who are working towards the completion of the MACRAO have through summer 2019 to complete the specific courses and request that the Student Records Office post the statement ‘MACRAO Satisfied’ on their transcript by turning in a Graduation Audit form with the MACRAO box checked.
Students MUST officially declare the correct academic program at GRCC prior to fall 2014 – any student who changes their program starting in fall 2014 will need to meet the new MTA requirements. Students can change their major online using the Change of Major Form.
HOW do I complete the MACRAO requirements?
MACRAO requirements are in the GRCC catalog and students should follow the requirements outlined in the catalog for the academic year that they started taking courses at GRCC.
HOW do I let the four year college or university know I completed the MACRAO requirements?
Four-year institutions will know that a student has met the MACRAO when it appears on their GRCC Official Transcript. In order to make sure that the MACRAO endorsement appears on your transcript, you need to submit this request to the GRCC Student Record's Office using the GRCC Graduation Audit form.
When a student has completed the MACRAO requirements as part of an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree at GRCC, they should indicate that they are applying to graduate with both the appropriate Associates Degree and with the MACRAO on the GRCC Graduation Audit form. When students are completing the MACRAO as a stand along package, they should indicate MACRAO only.
