Feb. 6, 2014 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Looking to take your career in a new direction? Grand Rapids Community College offers a free online tool that will let you explore potential careers.
Through a simple keyword search, students and any user of GRCC’s Career Coach software can learn about the employment prospects of different careers. This “real-time” information is customized to geographic regions and includes wage estimates and up-to-date job postings. Users also can see what GRCC programs can prepare them for specific jobs.
GRCC students have had access to the Career Coach software for the past year, and the college is now opening it to the public. Among its notable features: a built-in resume builder to help job seekers quickly and efficiently put together an updated presentation of their skills and experience, and a career assessment tool that helps users discover what careers might be right for them.
“Career Coach provides important career information that helps you focus on an educational and career goal,” said Tina Hoxie, associate provost and dean of student affairs. “And if you’re completely focused on a goal, you are more likely to reach it.”
To access the Career Coach software, just go to GRCC’s website. On the right side of the home page, you will find the gold Career Coach button. Just click on it, and you will be taken to the Career Coach page, which reviews the features of the tool. Click on the Career Coach tool and you will be directed to Career Coach.
Grand Rapids Community College encourages the entire campus community to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate a need for an accommodation, or have questions about accessibility, please call GRCC’s Disability Support Services at (616) 234-4140 in advance of your visit or program participation.
Grand Rapids Community College, established in 1914, offers opportunities for more than 30,000 students annually in degree courses, certification and training programs, workshops and personal enrichment classes. GRCC holds classes on the downtown Grand Rapids campus as well as several locations throughout Kent and Ottawa counties.
