20-Minute Mentor Commons

The 20-Minute Mentor Commons provides a library of videos on a wide variety of pedagogical and classroom issues. All GRCC faculty can access these videos 24/7. The programs in 20-Minute Mentor Commons features expert presenters delivering practical information and advice about the issues educators face every day in the classroom. Programs are categorized into the following categories:

  • Assessment and learning goals
  • Legal concerns
  • Service learning
  • Teaching and learning
  • Classroom management
  • Physical, mental, and emotional concerns
  • Student engagement
  • Teaching online

Some are tailor-made for new faculty, on subjects like boosting student participation, managing classroom distractions and creating a climate for learning. Others are especially useful for veteran educators seeking to refine their methods and adapt to a changing classroom. These include programs on introducing a service-learning component to courses, getting started with online teaching, and analyzing rubric results.

Still others will benefit teachers at any stage of their career, on topics including, developing students' critical-thinking skills, building high-performing blended courses, and improving student engagement.
