20-Minute Mentor Commons

The 20-Minute Mentor Commons provides a library of videos on a wide variety of pedagogical and classroom issues.  All GRCC faculty can access these videos 24/7.  The programs in 20 Minute Mentor Commons feature expert presenters delivering practical information and advice about the issues educators face every day in the classroom. Programs are categorized into the following categories:

  • Assessment and learning goals
  • Legal concerns
  • Service learning
  • Teaching and learning
  • Classroom management
  • Physical, mental, and emotional concerns
  • Student engagement
  • Teaching online

Some are tailor-made for new faculty, on subjects like boosting student participation, managing classroom distractions, and creating a climate for learning. Others are especially useful for veteran educators seeking to refine their methods and adapt to a changing classroom. These include programs on introducing a service-learning component to courses, getting started with online teaching, and analyzing rubric results.

Still others will benefit teachers at any stage of their career, on topics including, developing students' critical-thinking skills, building high-performing blended courses, and improving student engagement.
