Placement testing helps us assess your skills in reading, writing and math.
Who needs to take the test?
You are required to take our English placement test for enrollment if any of the following apply:
- SAT was taken before February 2016
- GRCC's placement test before October 2018 and you haven't previously taken and passed EN 101
- Transferred in fewer than 12 college credits and/or college GPA is below 2.0
You must take our math placement test (ALEKS) before enrolling in a math course if:
- Your ALEKS scores are older than 12 months or
- You haven't previously taken or transferred in a math class within the past year
Please note: Effective Fall 2024, ACT will not have enforced expiration dates
