Employment Opportunities

The Academic Support Center is always looking for students who would like to work as tutors. To be considered as a student-tutor, you must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at GRCC each semester you would like to work.

If you want to work as a one-on-one tutor:

You must have the following:

  1. An overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher, as well as a 3.00 in any class you would like to tutor.
  2. A professor recommendation. If you received a letter in the mail explaining that you have been recommended by an instructor, your professor recommendation has been completed.

If you have not received a letter like the one described above, you will need to secure a recommendation from a current or past instructor in the subject area you would like to tutor. (You may pick up the form required in the ASC Tutoring Office on the 2nd floor of the Library, room 232.

You will also have to interview for a tutoring position and attend an orientation session.

Please contact the ASC Tutoring Office at the information to the right with any questions, or to schedule an interview/orientation.

If you want to work in a subject-specific lab:

Each lab hires student and professional tutors individually, so if you would like to work in a subject-specific lab, contact that lab’s coordinator! Contact information can be found on each lab’s website (see links in the left-hand menu).

Generally speaking, the labs will want tutors to have the same 3.00 GPA required of one-on-one tutors.
