Purpose Statement
Instructional Support and Interdisciplinary Studies is an interdisciplinary collaborative that encourages, supports, and expects innovative teaching and learning practices, advancing ideas from theory to sustained reality in order to improve student learning and achieve student success.
Vision
Our system For curriculum development ransforms the learning experience for students and distinguishes GRCC as a leaderin innovative education.
Principles
- Curriculum is what we offer our students. Our curriculum model encompasses conceptualizing, planning, implemnting and assessing at the class, course, department/program and college level. The model includes teaching strategies, technology, environmnets, and relationships. The system for curriculum development includes the processes of faculty evaluation and faculty profesional development.
- Faculty memebers have the experience, knowledge and expertise to provide assistance for each other in creating and improving curriculum. Faculty leadership, service and ownership are critical to curriculum development efforts.
- Interdisciplinary connections deepen learning and inspire creativity for both faculty members and students.
- Curriculum must be focused on what our studetns will need for their futures and what the future needs of our community will be.
- Experimentation, reflection and research on teaching and learning build the knowlege base for continuous improvement of curriculum.
